French double bassist and vocalist Joelle Leandre is a free jazz legend. Her discography is as long and as impressive as her list of collaborations with artists such as Merce Cunningham and John Cage. She has performed with some of the world’s leading jazz musicians, including John Zorn, George Lewis and Anthony Braxton. Together with vocalist Phil Minton, she has prepared an evening-long programme for music connoisseurs. Particularly since saxophonist Sylvain Debasieux joins them for part of the concert at BOZAR’s request. This talented Belgian musician has already given several remarkable solo performances.
